Spring Opener

With it being my first year away at school, and no longer having competitive soccer as a huge time commitment, I wanted to begin something new to occupy my time away from school work. I found refuge in the Cal Poly Water  Ski Club. This past year has been a blast, meeting new people and learning how to ski. This last weekend the team trekked up to the private lake known as Bell Acqua Lake, just outside of Sacramento, for the seasons Spring Opener hosted by the UC Davis Water Ski Team. This was the first tournament that I was able to participate in slalom, trick, and jump events. The great thing about the water ski community is that you don't have to be an amazing skier, but everyone welcomes you and encourages you to do your best no matter your skill level. It's an awesome feeling to find that sense of support from people. After the competition was over on Saturday, everyone got dressed up in their 'merica apparel and ate scrumptious burritos, played kickball, and mingled with others. It was my second tournament, but it was for sure the most fun! I can't wait to travel along the coast to compete again and meet up with all of the fellow skiers in the region, at our next tournament.
